Drunken Driver Hits Fire Hydrant In Solon
The driver took his car off road, hit boulders and a fire hydrant, and then walked home, police said.
SOLON, OH — At 3 a.m. on Saturday, police were sent to a car crash on Richmond Road. After an investigation, the driver was taken into custody for driving impaired.
According to police, on Dec. 14, callers reported a car accident in the 27000 block of Richmond. When officers arrived, they found a car had gone off the road and hit boulders and a fire hydrant. The car was empty when police arrived.
Officers checked the car's registration and found the owner lived in Bedford Heights. Police went to the owner's home and spoke with a 54-year-old man. He smelled like alcohol, police said.

The man had injuries to his face and admitted to being in a car accident. He was then taken into custody and taken to Solon Jail.
After being examined by Solon fire crews, the man was given a breath test. He blew a .102.

The man has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired and prohibited BAC, according to Solon police.
