Former Solon Schools Employee Accused Of Gross Sexual Imposition

SOLON, OH — A former Solon Schools employee has been accused of gross sexual imposition, police announced Wednesday.

Edward Kline, a former band director, is the subject of an investigation which started in June 2020, a Solon police spokesperson said. The investigation focused on an incident which occurred in September 2010 and involved a 12-year-old victim, police said.

The band director has been charged with gross sexual imposition, a third degree felony. Police are preparing to present their case to a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury and additional charges could be added.

Police said the investigation into the band director is ongoing.

A Solon Schools spokesperson offered the following statement:

We have been informed by the Solon Police Department that a former teacher was arrested and charged today in relation to inappropriate contact with a student in 2010. The district became aware of these troubling new allegations this summer.

As we communicated to our school community in June when these new reports were made, school should be a safe space and we take the safety and emotional well-being of all our students – past and present – extremely seriously.

The district is unable to comment further as this is still an ongoing investigation.
