Loaded Gun, Weed Found During Solon Traffic Stop

Police said four bags of marijuana were found inside a car stopped for speeding.

SOLON, OH — Police found four bags of marijuana and a loaded gun in a car stopped for speeding on Solon Road on Tuesday night. The driver faces charges for improperly handling a firearm and speeding, police said.

At 10:45 p.m., officers stopped a car on Solon Road after it was clocked driving 52 mph in a 35 mph zone. When police spoke with the driver, they could smell an aroma of marijuana coming from inside the car.

The driver and a passenger were taken out of the car and officers searched the vehicle. They found a loaded gun between the driver's seat and the center console. The driver, a 36-year-old man from Eastlake, was then taken into custody.

Three bags of marijuana were found in the car and a fourth bag was found inside the passenger's purse, police said.

The driver had a suspended weapons permit and a warrant for his arrest from another city.
