One Solon Player Makes All-Ohio First Team Basketball

The team will play in the state semifinals on Friday against Pickerington Central. It's a chance for the Comets to get a measure of revenge.

SOLON, OH — Solon High School senior Sincere Carry has been named to the Division I All-Ohio First Team for boys basketball. The six foot Carry has scored more than 1,000 points during his Comets career. No other Solon Comet made the All-Ohio teams.

Ranked as the top team in the state, with a 26-1 record, the Comets are getting ready to play Pickerington Central (18-8) in the Final Four of the OSHAA Division I state playoffs. The Lady Comets lost in their state championship game to Pickerington Central. That means the boys could exact a measure of revenge on behalf of their female counterparts.

Solon wailed on Copley High School to punch their ticket to state competition, winning 81-60 on Saturday. The Comets are the number one ranked team and the highest seed left in the state tournament. They'll be favored to win against Pickerington Central.

Pickerington, for their part, are looking for a shot at redemption. Last year, they were favored to head to the state finals but instead fell to Archbishop Moeller in the semis. With Archbishop Moeller playing in the other state semifinals, there's a chance the two teams could meet up with the state title on the line.

Solon will be looking to prevent any such redemption story. The Comets will play Pickerington Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Jerome Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, on the campus of Ohio State University.

The winner of that semifinal game will play the winner of No. 2 Cin. Archbishop Moeller (25-3) vs. Lorain (22-5). The championship game will then be played at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Spectrum Sports will be broadcasting all of the OHSAA boys playoff basketball on channel 311, or channel 511 in former Insight areas. The OHSAA Radio Network is available at http://www.ohsaa.org/news/radio with 36 affiliates carrying selected games.
