Prepare For Tornadoes By Reviewing Emergency Plans

Solon residents are encouraged to review their emergency weather plans during Ohio Severe Weather Awareness Week.

SOLON, OH — Ohio Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 21 through March 27. Solon residents are encouraged to review their plans for dangerous weather during the week.

The National Weather Services encouraged Ohioans to prepare or update their emergency weather plan, and to review what to do in the event of a flash flood, severe thunderstorm, tornado, and lightning.

A Solon official said departments will review their tornado sheltering plans and ensure they are ready to protect all personnel in the event of a tornado.

"If that's not possible during the tornado test, then consider participating by simply sheltering-in-place or discussing sheltering options/plans among co-workers/family members. Every school, citizen, and business is encouraged to participate in the drill," the agency said in a statement.

Solon's tornado sirens are tested every Saturday and sounded on the first Saturday of each month.
