Resurfacing Of SOM Center Starts After Labor Day

Solon said crews will begin resurfacing part of SOM Center Road on September 3.

SOLON, OH — The resurfacing of part of SOM Center Road will begin Tuesday in Solon. Work on the street is expected to last through November, the city said.

Crews from the city's contractor, Chagrin Valley Paving Company, will resurface SOM Center from the US 422 east exit ramp to Station Street, near the railroad bridge, the city said. Crews will need to be active through the night, so work will take place between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The project is expected to be completed by November, but all traffic projects are weather dependent. The city said traffic will be maintained in one lane going each direction throughout the entirety of the work.

However, drivers that frequently use that stretch of SOM Center, particularly during the night, may want to find an alternate route for the next few months. Delays are expected for motorists.

Crews have already been hard at work on SOM Center this year, replacing fencing and resurfacing retaining walls to improve their aesthetic appeal and improving the intersection with Aurora Road.
