Solon Basketball Voted AP Champions For Div. I
The team finished the regular season an unblemished 20-0 and received 159 total points in the AP rankings.

SOLON, OH — The 20-1 Solon Comets boys basketball team has been named the 2018 AP Poll Champions. The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) congratulated the team on Facebook. The final AP rankings came out before the Comets loss to St. Edward High School on Tuesday.
Solon received 159 total points in the AP Poll, making the team the 2018 AP Poll Champions. The second-place team in Division I was Cincinnati Archbishop Mueller, who were 19-3 when the last ranking was taken. That team got 123 points.
Solon has one regular season game left, a road contest against Strongsville. That game will be played Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Postseason basketball also starts this week, but the Comets have a first round bye because they're the number one overall seed in their district bracket. The Comets will start their postseason journey on March 3 at 7 p.m. at home.
Solon's first playoff opponent will either be John Hay or Willoughby South High School. Willoughby is the higher ranked seed in that match-up.

The two seed in Solon's district bracket is Brush High School, a team that is currently 15-6 on the season. If the two teams were to meet, it would be in the district championship game which will be played March 10 at 7 p.m. at Euclid High School.
