Here's how many COVID-19 cases have been documented in Solon ZIP codes since the pandemic began.

SOLON, OH —There have been nearly 1,500 COVID-19 cases associated with a Solon ZIP code, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

The 44139 ZIP code in Solon has had 1,467 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. That's up slightly from 1,418 cases two weeks ago.

While the nation mourns the more than 500,000 Americans who have died during the COVID-19 pandemic, Ohio is cautiously optimistic that the virus' threat is receding slightly.

Ohioans 65 and older account for more than 87 percent of Ohio's 16,000 COVID-19 deaths.

The strategy has led to decreasing numbers of cases and deaths in nursing homes and similar facilities. Last week, there were 343 new COVID-19 cases in nursing homes. That's down from the state's peak of 2,832 cases in one week in December.
