Solon Native Lands Role In College Play
The musical shows how a pioneer woman and her six daughters deal with the struggles and rewards of frontier life

From Mt. Union University: Connor Johnson of Solon, Ohio is a cast member in the upcoming production of "Quilters" at the University of Mount Union.
"'Quilters' tells the story of how we settled in America. It doesn't shy away from the struggles or the pain as it presents an honest account of how the pioneers risked life and limb in search of their destiny," said Kevin Kern, the chair of the Department of Theatre at Mount Union.
The musical shows how a pioneer woman and her six daughters deal with the struggles and rewards of frontier life. Kern said, "The chief storyteller in this play is a woman, which allows us to see the pioneers' triumph through the eyes of our mothers, and their mothers, who were standing shoulder to shoulder with the men through every step of this treacherous yet vital journey."
"Quilters" was created by Barbara Damashek and Molly Newman and was first performed in 1982 by the Denver Center Theatre Company.
