Solon Schools Announce Kindergarten Registration Info

SOLON, OH — The Solon Schools will hold a kindergarten information night on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.

The program is for parents of students starting kindergarten in fall 2021. Principals and counselors from Lewis, Parkside and Roxbury elementary schools will give an overview of Solon kindergarten and the registration process.

Solon Schools offer both full-day and half-day kindergarten. All three schools offer full-day kindergarten, but the district has not yet determined which schools will offer half-day sessions.

Registering children for Solon kindergarten is a two-step process: the majority of information can be provided online and then families complete a short in-person process.

Centralized kindergarten registration will be March 3 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and March 4 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Arthur Road School cafeteria. Parents and guardians need to sign up for time slots for registration. The appointment sign-up will go live on Feb. 19, after the district's Kindergarten Information Night.

A general online registration form must be completed prior to the in-person registration event. That form will also be available after the information night.

Solon Schools officials said kindergarten enrollment data is crucial for planning staffing for 2021 and 2022. Families are urged to get their children registered in March for the programs.

"Residents are urged to remind friends and neighbors who have students approaching kindergarten age to attend Kindergarten," the district said. "Only students registered during the district’s centralized registration March 3-4 are guaranteed placement at their home school (families impacted by a COVID-19 diagnosis or quarantine in their household during the registration days should contact the Board of Education Registration Office at 248-1600 for guidance)."
