Solon Vs Twinsburg Football: What To Expect Friday

SOLON, OH — The Solon Comets are off to a hot start after blowing out neighboring Aurora High, 25-0, last Friday. Now the football team is coming home and getting ready to play another rival...Twinsburg High.

"We faced a really good team at Aurora last week,” said Solon Head Coach Jim McQuaide in this week's game notes. “We were able to do some good things in our first game but there is still plenty of work to do as we

prepare to see Twinsburg. Over the years we have been in some big games with Twinsburg."

Last year, the Comets won their game against Twinsburg 26-21, on the strength of a dominant rushing game. Still, it wouldn't quite be fair to call the Solon-Twinsburg game a rivalry, since the Comets have historically dominated their neighbors. Solon has won the last five games in the series and owns a 46-8-3 overall record against the Tigers.

Solon's defense looks golden this year after it held Aurora to less than 100 yards in Week 1. Throw in Khalil Eichelberger’s three touchdown runs and the Comets had a winning recipe.

Twinsburg had a nice start to its own season, blowing out Copley 49-28 in Week 1. The Tigers are looking to change the tide of their series with Solon and rip off a few wins for their squad.

The Comets will look to continue their dominance on Friday, August 31, during Solon's first home game of the year. The game will be played at Stewart Field at 7 p.m.

• Away against Medina High - October 26
