Suspected Robbers Chased By Solon Police, Crash On I-480

Police said a man was robbed outside a Solon business on Wednesday morning. The suspects were caught by police after a car chase.

SOLON, OH — Three accused armed robbers crashed their car while being chased by Solon police on Wednesday morning. The trio stole a wallet and cell phone from a man in Solon before being pursued by officers, according to a statement from the department.

At 8:30 a.m., a man and a woman, with a handgun, approached a man sitting in a car outside a Solon business. The pair demanded the man's cell phone and wallet and then got into a blue sedan and drove off, according to police.

Solon police searched the area for the car and spotted it on US-422 west. Police put on their overhead lights, but the car sped up, starting a car chase.

The pursuit continued onto I-480 west, where the suspects' car hit a concrete median near the Miles Road overpass. The car broke down after the collision and three people were then taken into custody, police said. Officers found a gun inside the car.

One of the suspects was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the crash investigation, Solon police said. No charges have yet been filed against the suspects, police said.
