Bar Louie Closes 6 Ohio Locations Amid Bankruptcy Filing

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Bar Louie is filing for bankruptcy. The gastropub chain is shuttering 38 locations nationwide, including six restaurants in Ohio, in advance of filing chapter 11.

Bar Louie is targeting its "underperforming" restaurants for closure, the company said. A total of 90 restaurants will remain open. Several Ohio locations will remain open, including the Bar Louie in Lyndhurst, Cleveland and Columbus.

The following Ohio locations will be closed as part of the bankruptcy filing:

• Strongsville — 10 Southpark Center
• Beavercreek — 4492 Glengarry Drive
• Cincinnati — 7480 Beechmont Avenue
• Cincinnati — 3100 Vandercar Way
• Miamisburg — 10267 Perry Lane
• Toledo — 5001 Monroe Street

The company said its employees and suppliers will continue to be paid during bankruptcy.

"Bar Louie is a profitable business focused on long-term growth with new investors. The sale through Chapter 11 will help us to focus on our profitable core locations and expand in areas that have a proven track record of success," Tom Fricke, Bar Louie's CEO, said in a statement. "Most importantly, it ensures that we can continue to provide superior service to our guests, implement an exciting range of new customer-facing initiatives, expand our marketing influence, and continue to offer the 5-star experience we are known for."

The chain said it hopes to come out of bankruptcy within 90 days.
