Browns Wideout Cited For Marijuana In Strongsville: Reports

Fourth-round pick Antonio Callaway was also cited for driving with a suspended license, police said.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Browns wide receiver Antonio Callaway was stopped by Strongsville Police at about 3 a.m. on Sunday. He was cited for possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license.

The fourth-round pick still took part in the team's Tuesday practices. Head coach Hue Jackson was asked about the incident after the session. His response was published on the team's website.

“I am just now finding out about it,” Jackson said. “You guys know me pretty well, we will have a very strong conversation about it. Let me find out all of the facts – everything that went into it – and then go from there.”

Off-the-field issues plagued Callaway during his college career at Florida. He tested positive for marijuana at the NFL combine, ESPN reported.

“We have kind of laid out what our expectations are,” Jackson added. “We said what we do and what we do not do. My job is to make sure that I look into these things, understand them all. The person has to deal with the consequences that comes with it. We do not take things likely. At the same time, until I know everything about it, I do not want to make a strong comment one way or the other.”

The Cleveland Browns are already without starting wide receiver Josh Gordon, who is dealing with health issues this training camp. Gordon also has a troubled history with off-the-field issues.

Gordon entered an in-patient rehabilitation facility in late 2016, after several high-profile suspensions for substance-abuse violations. Prior to entering the rehab facility, Gordon failed both drug and alcohol tests, and sat out all of the 2015 and 2016 seasons while serving a substance abuse-related suspension.
