Brunswick Is One Of Ohio's Safest Cities: Analysis
"NeighborhoodScout" looked at the safest cities in the nation and Brunswick made the list.

BRUNSWICK, OH — Brunswick is the 28th safest state in the nation, according to a new analysis. The city is also the second safest municipality in Ohio, behind only North Ridgeville.
NeighborhoodScout, a web-based platform from Location, Inc., compared the safety of cities with at least 25,000 people based on the total number of property and violent crimes per 1,000 residents.
Brunswick had a crime score of 81 out of 100. In NeighborhoodScout's formula, 100 is the safest possible score. That means that Brunswick is safer than 81 percent of cities in America.

There were 25 violent crimes in Brunswick in 2016, the last year that complete data was available. That's a violent crime rate of .76 per 1,000 residents. That means the average resident in Brunswick has a one in 1,390 chance of being a victim of violent crime. The average Ohio resident has a one in 333 chance of becoming a victim of violent crime.
There were no murders in Brunswick in 2016. There was one rape. That's a murder rate of 0.00 and a rape rate of .03 per 1,000 residents. America has a 0.05 murder rate per 1,000 residents and a .4 rape rate per 1,000 residents, for comparison.

Meanwhile, there were 224 property crimes in Brunswick in 2016. That's a rate of 6.44 per 1,000 residents. The average resident in Brunswick has a one in 155 shot of being a victim of a property crime. That's compared to one in 39 as an average resident in Ohio.
