Community Garden Coming To Strongsville
Registration for plots costs $25 and will open to residents May 19. The garden will be located at the corner of Pearl and Drake roads.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Residents of Strongsville will soon be able to indulge their green thumbs. The city announced recently that it plans to create the Strongsville Community Garden. Southwest General Hospital will donate the land for the garden.
The garden will be located at the corner of Pearl and Drake roads. Local Boy Scout troops will build and raise the garden beds. Residents will be able to rent the 4-by-8-foot plots for $25 per summer. Plots will be available starting May 19 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The city said the new garden is the result of a four-year partnership between city officials and Southwest General. Supporting the popularity of a garden makes sense for a hospital. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found that 2.5 hours of gardening each week will reduce obesity, and the risk for high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke, depression, and many other serious diseases and conditions.
