Construction Set For Pearl, Sprague Roads In Strongsville

Mayor Tom Perciak outlined all of the city's major construction projects for 2019 during his State of the City address.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — A surprisingly heavy snow may have hit Ohio on the last day of March, but the gradual arrival of a new season will mean myriad construction projects will soon kick-off throughout Northeast Ohio. Strongsville is no exception.

During his May 19 State of the City address, Strongsville Mayor Tom Perciak outlined a number of major traffic projects that will be completed before 2020, weather permitting. Two of the most significant projects for residents will hit Pearl and Sprague roads.

Pearl will actually be part of two construction projects this year. Crews will finishing resurfacing Pearl this year, a project that stretched from the Ohio Turnpike to Sprague.

The city will also go to lengths to improve the Pearl-Royalton intersection. In the monthly newsletter to the community, the city said steps will be taken to beautify the intersection and make it safer for pedestrians.

Construction on Sprague isn't expected to commence until the fall. However, the project is one worth waiting for.

Crews will be widening Sprague between Webster Road and W. 130th Street. The city described the project as "long-awaited."

Every traffic signal in Strongsville — including those along Sprague and Pearl — will be getting an upgrade this year. A $1.4 million grant from the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) enabled the city to better all 57 of its municipal traffic signals.
