Long Time Strongsville Coach Resigns

The girls basketball program is looking for a new head coach.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Strongsville High Varsity Girls Basketball Coach Jeff Eicher has resigned, the district announced this week. He has been the head varsity basketball coach for the past eight years and has been with the district for 35 years. He has been a coach both at Albion Middle School and Strongsville High.

“Coach Eicher has been a great friend, mentor, and teacher to so many in our District. He has been a part of both our boys and girls basketball programs and has helped our student-athletes find success both on and off the court. His passion for, and development of our girls program culminated in this year’s trip to the Elite 8 in the OHSAA Tournament," said Andy Jalwan, Strongsville High School Athletic Director.

Eicher will be joining another school district to pursue a different coaching opportunity, according to a school official.

"We wish Coach Eicher continued success in his future endeavors and thank him for the countless hours he has spent fostering the love of basketball and developing lifelong skills in our student-athletes,” Jalwan said.

The school district has started accepting applications for the next girls varsity basketball head coach. Information on the job opening can be found on the district's website. Any questions on the position should be directed to the high school athletic department.
