Mayor: Time to Fix Roads, Flooding Problems

The mayor outlined Strongsville's goals and praised the city's accomplishments in his annual state of the city address.

STRONGSVILLE, OH - Mayor Tom Perciak delivered an optimistic state of the city address to a packed house Tuesday, the City of Strongsville reported.

The mayor said the main goals of the year are to repave route 40, widen the Royalton Road ramp, renovate the Rec Center and correct flooding issues.

Engineering students are currently working on ways to solve ongoing flooding problems in Strongsville. Their efforts could lead to retention basins on Lyon Lane, culverts on Cortland, the Waterford Crossing and in the Admiralty area.

Perciac also praised the industrial base of Strongsville, saying it helped soften the blow of the $2.4 million a year hit to revenue created by state and federal funding cuts.

The mayor said the budget gap has been completely closed thanks to the 8,600 employees in the city’s four industrial parks. According to the mayor, income taxes make up 86 percent of the city’s general fund and business parks provide 55 percent of that income tax.
