Nationwide Vegetable Recall Impacts Grocers, Consumers In Ohio

California-based Mann Packing Co., recently announced a voluntary recall of more than 140 vegetable products because of listeria concerns.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — More than 140 vegetable products sold at supermarkets in Ohio and others across the United States have been recalled over potential listeria contamination. California-based Mann Packing Co. announced the voluntary recall.

The recall is a response to notification by the Food and Drug Administration and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency of a potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, the company said.

The recalled products have a “Best if Enjoyed By” date of Oct. 11, 2019, to Nov. 16, 2019. The packages were sold under a variety of brand names, including Walmart’s Marketside, Mann’s, HEB and Signature Farms.

Public health officials have not reported any illness associated with these products.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Listeria infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Mann Packing said in its recall announced Sunday that customers who have products affected should dispose of them.
