Neighbor Breaks Gun when Boy Tries to 'Shoot' Cat; Kids Caught TPing: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Strongsville Police Department

A Pearl Road man called police June 21 after a neighbor smashed his son's gun -- which he had pointed at the woman's cat.

A report said the man was angry that the woman took the gun instead of letting him handle it.

The woman told officers the child, 11, asked to see her cat, then aimed his Airsoft gun at it.

When the cat ran, he tried to grab it, a report said.

The woman intervened and the child then attacked her, she said, yelling and scratching. She grabbed the gun and broke it in the process.

When she tried to talk to the dad, he also got upset and used profanities.

Police advised father and son never to point a gun at anything, and told the woman to call police next time.

Caught in the Act

Police were called to Surrarrer Elementary School about 3 a.m. June 23, where they found four young adults TPing the building.

They also admitted to rolling some houses on Jonathan and Bernice, and were cited for criminal mischief.

Later that day, the kids who had made the mess were in the area cleaning it up, and one found a cell phone.

The owner, another young adult, was cited for criminal mischief when she went to the police station to pick it up.

Baby Raccoons Freed

Police were called to Volunteer Park June 23 after two baby raccoons were found stuck inside a trash can.

The officer turned the can over "and the two cute little rascals scampered off into the woods," a report said.

Booms

A resident on Cross Trail reported hearing two explosions coming from the Hartford Trail area about 8:45 p.m. June 22.

An officer stayed in the area about 15 minutes, but it was quiet.

Trash Pickers Get Creative

A witness reported seeing two men trying to open the doors of the collection bin at the Salvation Army store on Pearl Road about 2 a.m. June 21.

The pair told police they were trash-picking and thought they would try their luck at the Salvation Army.

They were told if they were found there again, they would be charged.
