New Basketball Coach Hired At Strongsville High
The new varsity basketball coach comes with a long, impressive resume. He was stolen away from North Royalton High School.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Strongsville High School has a new varsity basketball coach. Joe Guilfoyle was approved by the Strongsville Board of Education on Tuesday. He held a meeting with the community on Wednesday.
Most recently, Guilfoyle was a teacher and coach at North Royalton High School, a position he held for 23 years. He served as the Athletic Director, boys basketball coach, assistant girls basketball coach, and boys tennis coach during his tenure at North Royalton.
“We are pleased to have Coach Guilfoyle join Strongsville City Schools as the varsity boys basketball coach. We look forward to the plan that he has for strengthening our basketball program and setting high standards and expectations for our student athletes,” said Andy Jalwan, Strongsville High School Athletic Director.

He has been recognized as the Division I Coach of the Year for the State of Ohio, a two-time Greater Cleveland Coach of the Year, and selected as Coach of the Year in both Columbia and Richland Counties. He led North Royalton to back-to-back conference championships and a Sweet Sixteen appearance.
“I am very excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with the talented basketball student athletes in Strongsville. The Mustangs basketball program has been a program of excellence. With the commitment of our student athletes and the support of our community, we will continue to move our program forward and develop our players both on and off the court,” said Guilfoyle in a statement.
