New Playground Opens In Strongsville

The city said it has applied for additional funds to add more equipment to the playground.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — A new playground at Surrarrer Park has been opened, the city announced. Slides, sings, climbing apparatus, and adaptive equipment for kids in wheelchairs has all been added to the playground site.

The park was due for a "sprucing up," according to Strongsville Parks and Recreation Director Bryan Bogre. The Surrarrer playground opened on July 21, a few days ahead of schedule, thanks to work from volunteers from the Rotary Club of Strongsville.

Besides the aforementioned equipment, the playground also includes a "friendship swing" that allows parents and children to both swing while facing each other. Bogre said he also wants to install a "storybook trail," where families will upon pages of a story as they walk. The city has applied for a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources that would pay for additional equipment at the park.
