Pearl-Route 82 Construction Shifts In Strongsville

Plus, a railroad crossing site will be closed starting Monday, the city said.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — Two traffic projects will impact Strongsville drivers over the coming months. Construction on the Royalton and Pearl intersection shifted this week, bringing traffic pattern changes aplenty.

All lanes on Pearl Road will now be open during this phase of construction, the city said. Work on this portion of the intersection project will continue through the end of the month.

"As always, please be patient with delays and alert while entering the new traffic pattern," the city said on Facebook.

In April, city officials said they wanted to beautify the Rt. 82-Pearl intersection and make it easier for pedestrians to cross. The project will include the addition of ADA-compliant curb ramps, refuge islands and pedestrian signals to help walkers cross the intersection. Traffic signals will be hung on mast arms and drainage around the intersection will be improved, officials said on the city website.

Additionally, on Monday, October 21, the railroad tracks on Prospect Road, just south of Westwood, will be closed for repairs. The project should take three to five days and detour signs will be posted in the area.
