Strongsville Heinen's Reopens After Coronavirus Confirmation

The store was cleaned and sanitized before it was reopened to customers.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — For the second time, the Strongsville Heinen's was briefly closed after a staff member tested positive for the new coronavirus. The grocery store has now reopened to customers.

"We are keeping our affected associates in our thoughts and will proceed with our enhanced efforts to follow CDC recommended safety and sanitation guidelines," the Heinen's website said. The store was cleaned and sanitized during its closure.

The staffer who tested positive for COVID-19 last worked at the Strongsville store on April 19. The virus' presence in their system was confirmed on April 22, prompting the brief closure.

An employee at the store tested positive for COVID-19 last weekend, causing the first closure of the Strongsville Heinen's. The store was cleaned and sanitized and reopened on April 19.

"As we continue to face the challenges impacting us all as a result of COVID-19, we pledge to be sensible, respectful and honest with our customers and the communities we serve," store officials said on social media.

Heinen's has already put a number of social distancing practices in place, including limited store hours, a one-hour time block between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. each day for seniors or immunocompromised shoppers, occupancy limits and a temporary halt on returns/refunds.
