Strongsville High School Parts Ways With Head Basketball Coach

Darren Collins will not return next season to coach the varsity basketball team. The district will begin seeking his replacement on March 10

STRONGSVILLE, OH - Strongsville High School is officially in the market for a new head basketball coach. Current coach Darren Collins will not be returning to his position next season, the school announced on Thursday.

The team had a dismal 2016-2017 season, falling to a 6-18 record overall and a 2-13 in-conference record. Applications to take over the team will be accepted starting March 10.

The district released the following statement on Collins' departure on Thursday, "Strongsville City Schools would like to thank Coach Collins for his commitment to the basketball program and for his hard work and dedication over the past four seasons. The district wishes him well in his future endeavors."

In a statement sent out on Thursday, the district said they have a transition plan in place for easing out of the Collins era and into a new coach's regime. Parents and students will take part in ongoing conversations about the program and the status of the search.
