Strongsville Man Accused Of Drunken Driving

Police said an intoxicated driver was drifting out of his lane and nearly hit other cars.

WESTLAKE, OH — An intoxicated Strongsville man nearly drove into cars in Westlake, according to police. The driver was eventually taken into custody by police and his car was towed off the road.

At 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, a concerned resident called North Olmsted police and reported a possible drunken driver. North Olmsted officers searched for the suspect's car but could not find it.

North Olmsted police then asked Westlake police to aid in searching for the driver. Investigators were told the drunken driver had been drifting out of their lane on Schwartz Road and had nearly hit other cars.

Westlake police found the suspected drunken driver on Bradley Road, near Sawgrass Lane. The driver was a 56-year-old Strongsville man. Police said the man appeared to be intoxicated.

Officers field tested the man and then took him into custody. He has been accused of operating a vehicle impaired and having an issue with his car's license plate.

The man's car was towed from the scene and the driver was taken to Westlake Jail.
