Strongsville Police Pick Up Patrols on Royalton Road
More stops and more tickets. Residents thankful.

Since Royalton Road, between Pearl and Prospect, was widened to four lanes in 2005 it has become a major thoroughfare for traffic traveling through Strongsville between Interstate 71 and Lorain County. Along with the addition of lanes came the addition of speed, as commuters and commoners moved through the corridor. After six high-speed damage accidents in the past year, the most recent of which saw a car jump a curb and land in a resident's front yard, patrols have stepped up. Whether it's a motorist ignoring the school zone speed limit near Muraski School, or someone who thinks 50 to 60 m.p.h. is an acceptable speed for a 35 m.p.h. residential area, more drivers are being pulled over and ticketed.
Neighborhood residents are thankful that City Council and the Strongsville Police Department have taken note of the concerns and made this stretch of Royalton Road a safer and saner place to drive. But, if you tend to be a lead foot around town, you may want to slow down for this 1.5 mile residential segment of Route 82. It could save your life and the lives of those who live or drive along the way.
