Strongsville Schools Will Open With Remote-Only Education
However, sports and marching band practice will continue in Strongsville.
STRONGSVILLE, OH — The Strongsville Schools will begin the year with remote education only, the district announced.
Superintendent Cameron Ryba said he expects remote-only education to continue through at least the first quarter of the academic year. If conditions improve, he said, students could then return to buildings.
To give staff and students time to adjust to a remote-only start to the year, the district and the Board of Education approved a delayed start to learning. All students will now begin their year during the week of Aug. 24.

"However, we will need to make arrangements for students to come to the building at designated times to obtain needed textbooks, workbooks, Chromebooks (see below), and additional materials. We understand that students need to have their needed instructional materials, supplies, and technology. Remote learning for the first week will be planned taking these factors into consideration," Ryba said.
Building principals should communicate with families about individual plans for remote-only education. Students at all levels in the district should "receive instruction in a manner that is modeled after what they would experience in an in-person setting."

"This will look vastly different than the remote instruction that was offered in the spring, as we have evolved our online teaching practices and enhanced our online expectations," Ryba said.
While the district has decided to pursue a remote-only beginning to the academic year, Ryba will allow sports practices and marching band training to continue. He said an update on extracurriculars could be provided this week.
