Weekly COVID-19 Update For Strongsville: ZIP Code Counts

New COVID-19 cases continue to pile up locally.

STRONGSVILLE, OH — There have been more than 1,100 COVID-19 cases associated with a Strongsville ZIP code, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

The 44136 ZIP Code has been home to 1,138 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. That's up from 1,020 cases last week.

Since the start of the pandemic, the 44017 ZIP code has been home to 826 COVID-19 cases. That's up from 724 COVID-19 cases last week. A third ZIP code in Strongsville, 44149, had 900 COVID-19 cases, up from 779 cases.

The Ohio Department of Health confirmed its fewest new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours on Wednesday, though health officials said laboratories were battling technical issues that may have artificially deflated the count.

While new COVID-19 cases may be on the decline, deaths and hospitalizations related to the virus continue to surge. If cases remain on the decline, it could be a week or more before other metrics begin to decline in Ohio.

COVID-19 vaccinations began this week in Ohio. Gov. Mike DeWine believes Ohio will receive approximately 660,000 COVID-19 vaccines in December and another 660,000 vaccines in January.
