- Toledo City Council is exploring options to make city-owned buildings more energy efficient. The plan to convert the buildings, such as the Toledo Municipal Court, will cost about 46 millions dollars. However, the projected savings is reported to be 77 million dollars. (13 ABC)
- The ADM silos along the Maumee River in downtown Toledo are to be turned into community art. A series of murals, dubbed the Glass City River Walk, will reportedly be the largest mural in the entire country once completed. The special cement coating paint also means the art won't fade for several years. (13 ABC)
- A lawsuit has been filed against the City of Toledo and the Toledo Police Department for injuries the 23 plaintiffs say they incurred at peaceful protests last year following the murder of George Floyd. A civil rights lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court in Toledo, naming the city as well as several police officers as defendants. (WTOL)
- The famous Northwest Ohio Rib Off will return this year for its 37th anniversary after taking a year off during last year's quarantine. The event will feature live music from Kansas, Chase Rice, and Satisfaction from July 30 through August 1. Tickets go on sale Friday at the Stranahan Theater box office and Tireman locations throughout the city. (13 ABC)
- The Nasby Building in downtown Toledo is set to receive renovations. The agreement, initially reached in 2017, was between the city of Toledo and Nasby LLC and is meant to revitalize the vacant former bus station at the corner of Madison and Erie street. Toledo City Council are confident this could lead to other revitalized buildings, such as the famous Spitzer building acquired last year by the Lucas County Land Bank. (Toledo Blade)
