Kmart Closing One Ohio Store
More than 130 employees will be laid off by April 8, 2018, according to records obtained by Patch.

WARREN, OH — The Kmart store in Warren will permanently close its doors during early April. The store's 133 employees will be laid off during a two-week period around the store's closing, which must be final by April 8, 2018.
Sears Holdings will close more than 100 stores in 2018, the company announced last week. Of the closures, 64 Kmarts will be shuttered and 39 Sears stores. Liquidation sales are expected to begin this week at most locations.
"We will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members," a statement from the company read.

Brick-and-mortar stores have been taking lagging behind, prompting many chains to announce store closures. Sam's Club is shutting down two Ohio stores. Four other retailers, including Target and Walgreens, have said they will likely shut down stores in Ohio in 2018.
The majority of the Warren store employees fall into three categories: checkout service associates, hardlines merchandisers and softlines merchandisers. The employees are not represented by any union, according to a letter sent to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.
