Founded in 1971 as Gardens for All, this organization is dedicated to getting new gardeners started, and helping existing gardeners expand their skills.  Their website has a vast amount of information on every gardening topic you can imagine, including a huge database of plants.

Ohio State University Extension

This website has a wealth of information on agriculture, food, and environmental sciences.  It’s truly an exhaustive resource on all things related to gardens, has extensive food safety and preservation information, and is an all-around great resource.  Email them next time you find your tomatoes aren’t thriving, or you have an unidentified insect plaguing your zucchini – they’ll help you diagnose and fix the problem.

National Agricultural Library

The website of this division of the USDA has an extensive section on home gardening, providing links to reputable sources on a variety of topics of interest to the home gardener.

Universal Class

Available free with your PLYMC library card, this source offers instructor led classes on a variety of different subjects, including a selection of courses on gardening, landscaping, and even a course on insects, which would be super helpful to home gardeners.

So let these great sources guide you while you embark on a home gardening journey, or help the experienced gardener sharpen their skills.
