In order to make a beaded gecko keychain you will need the following items:

To begin making your gecko you need to string one bead (out of the 45 pony beads) to the center of your craft lace. To string the beads, put both ends of the craft lace through the bead and pull! Make sure that the craft lace in equal in length on both sides. Keep stringing the beads in the following pattern:

NOTE: As you string the beads, you may have to move them around to get them to lay correctly. If you cannot get them to lay completely flat, that’s okay! Every gecko is different!

To make the legs you will need 4 beads (out of the 45 pony beadsà I will be using RED) and 1 bead (out of the 20 pony beadsà I will be using ORANGE). String all of the beads onto one side of the craft lace in the following order 3 Red, 1 Orange, 1 Red. Skipping the last three beads put your cord through the back two beads and pull tight! Arrange the top three beads to make a foot! It should be in the shape of a triangle. Repeat these steps on the other side.

Continue to string the beads in the following order:

Repeat the steps listed in Step 3 to make the gecko’s back legs!

String the remaining beads in any order one by one to create the tail!

NOTE: I used 7 beads for the tail!

Add a keyring to your gecko and clip it on your keys and/or backpack!

Hello everyone! I'm Brianna and I am a Youth Services Library Assistant at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County. Working at the library is a dream come true! There is nothing better than being surrounded by books all day long. It is perfect! When I'm not at the library, I spend most of my time playing with my son, Dean, and my three dogs! I have two huskies, Strider and Oakley, and one boxer named Izzy. They keep me pretty busy, but whenever I have a spare moment there is a YA novel in my hands. I am always looking for my next great read!
