Retiree Snags $100K Oregon Lottery Jackpot

Recently retired after 20 years with the Department of Human Services, Yolanda Reyes was relaxing at B&G Bingo in Salem when she won big.

SALEM, OR — Retirement got a whole lot sweeter for Lebanon resident Yolanda Reyes this month when she won the jackpot on an Oregon Lottery Holiday Wishes Scratch-it.

New for the 2018 holiday season, the Oregon Lottery's featured holiday Scratch-it games include the $1 Stocking Stuffer, the $2 Snow Globe Cash, the $5 Holiday Cheer, and the $10 Holiday Wishes, which is the one Yolanda chose to play while hanging out at B&G Bingo in Salem.

"I was at Bingo and scratching the ticket and thought I won $10,” Yolanda recently told Oregon Lottery officials. “When I asked a friend, we realized I won $100,000!”

With Yolanda taking home the max prize, only one $100,000 jackpot remains, Oregon Lottery spokesman Patrick Johnson said. The holiday Scratch-its will be on sale through the end of the year.

Recently retired from the Oregon Department of Human Services after 20 years of state service, Yolanda said she'll use her winnings to pad her nest egg and purchase a smaller pickup truck.

“It comes at a great time for me,” she said. “I just retired and this will be a nice cushion.”
