Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Seeks Volunteers

The Oregon Food Bank and National Association of Letter Carriers' annual food drive will collect donations May 12.

The Oregon Food Bank and National Association of Letter Carriers need volunteers to help pick up food donations next month during the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.

The largest one-day food drive in Oregon and the country, according to the Oregon Food Bank, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will see more than 4,000 letter carriers in Oregon and Clark County, Washington, collect nonperishable food items donated by community members and left by mailboxes May 12.

Volunteers can help out their local mail carrier by adopting a route and picking up donated food boxes between 12:30 and 5:30 p.m., then taking their collected donations to their nearest post office.

Additionally, as food box collectors make drop offs at the post office, volunteers will be needed to help unload and sort through all the food.

More than 1 million pounds of food was reportedly donated in 2017, with donations assisting families and individuals in the communities where the food was donated.
