TOLEDO, OR — A 14-year-old boy from Toledo was killed in a single vehicle crash Friday after taking his grandparents' 2017 Chevrolet Silverado out for a late-night joyride, according to Oregon State Police.
Carter Worden, who reportedly lived with his grandparents, was driving their car south on Highway 229 when just before 2:45 a.m. he drifted over the centerline and hit a tree on the Eastside of the highway.
Toledo High School officials shared the news of Worden's death on the school's official Facebook page Friday morning, noting the school would be open for a few hours Friday to give students and community members a place to meet where they could grieve together.
