Fairview Man Wins $80K Keno Jackpot In Oregon City

David Brown told Oregon Lottery officials he plans to use a portion of his winnings to see his Cubbies take on the Cardinals at Wrigley.

FAIRVIEW, OR — After his big Keno 8-Spot win, Fairview resident David Brown is singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

According to Oregon Lottery officials, Brown — a 40-year Cubs fan — will use a portion of his $80,000-plus Keno win to visit Wrigley Field in Chicago to see his hometown Cubbies take on the St. Louis Cardinals.

“I had a trip to Chicago planned and now I am going to go see the Cubs play the Cardinals,” Brown recently told lottery officials. “I got to see them last year in Phoenix and now I can see them at Wrigley Field.”

Brown reportedly pulled in the big win while playing video lottery games at the Lighthouse in Oregon City.

“I like to get my Keno tickets and then ignore the Keno board and scan them afterward,” he said. “That way I am surprised. I like being surprised.”

And surprised he was when one of the Lighthouse clerks told players someone had hit the Keno rolling 8-Spot jackpot prize, which had to grown to more than $50,000 after no one picked the right numbers for awhile.

“I scanned it and that’s when it said it was a high-tier win!” Brown said. “I immediately signed the back of the ticket and then checked online to see exactly how much I had won. I had a hint that I might have won, but when I saw it I was definitely surprised.”

For matching all eight numbers on his Keno ticket, Brown won $25,000. For hitting the rolling jackpot on his quick pick ticket, he also won another $54,134. And for his second quick pick ticket, which matched seven of the eight numbers, he added $1,750 — bringing his total haul to $80,884.
