Gresham-Barlow School District Selects Katrise Perera as Superintendent
Dr. Katrise Perera was selected from a pool of 59 applicants, district officials said. She'll assume her new role on July 1.

GRESHAM, OR — While Portland Public Schools suffered a setback on Thursday regarding its search for a new superintendent to lead the district, the Gresham-Barlow School Board proudly announced its May 4 selection of Dr. Katrise Perera as its new superintendent beginning July 1.
The former national director of McGraw Hill Education’s urban markets division, Perera comes to Gresham-Barlow with a wealth of experience in education, including four years spent as superintendent of the Isle of Wight County Schools in Smithfield, Virginia — for which Perera was named the National Association of School Superintendents’ 2015 Superintendent of the Year.
Perera was selected from a pool of 59 applicants, according to school district statement.
