Gresham Police Arrest Man In Summer Southeast Portland Murder

A grand jury in Multnomah County determined that Daniel Harwood murdered Billy Mayfield in July 2018 in Southeast Portland

PORTLAND, OR – A man arrested by Gresham Police in September on drug and weapons charges now faces a more serious charge. The Multnomah County District Attorney says that 27-year-old Daniel Troy Harwood is charged with murder.

He was in court on Dec. 3 to be arraigned on the murder indictment. He's accused of killing 37-year-old Billy Mayfield on July 1, 2018.

Portland Police had been called to the 12200 block of Southeast Harold where they found Mayfield dying from a gunshot wound. He was being rushed to the hospital when he died.

Meanwhile, Harwood was picked up by Gresham Police on Set. 3 at the intersection of Northeast Burnside and North Main on the drug and gun charges.

While he was in custody, Portland detectives developed information linking him to the Mayfield murder.

He'll be back in court on Jan. 14, 2019.
