Gresham Police will be working to conduct extra DUII-focused patrols over the Memorial Day holiday weekend this year.

May 18, 2020

Gresham Police will be working with the Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon Impact, and other local agencies conducting extra DUII-focused patrols over the Memorial Day holiday weekend this year. These high visibility enforcements are funded by the USDOT's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in order to increase the number of officers on the streets who are proactively seeking to identify and stop impaired drivers with the goal of preventing deaths, injuries, and property damage.

Ways to prevent impaired driving:

  • Stop drinking alcohol long before you intend on driving.
  • Prepare to stay the night where you are at.
  • Choose a responsible designated driver or use an alternate ride service (cab, Uber, Lyft, TriMet, etc.)
  • Eat food while you are drinking to lessen the effects of alcohol.
  • Enjoy non-alcoholic beverages.

Everyone plays an important part in keeping our highways and city streets safe. Immediately report aggressive, dangerous, and intoxicated drivers to the Portland Bureau of Emergency Communications at 503-823-3333 or call 9-1-1 if it is an emergency.
