Gresham Woman Dies In Apartment Fire, Smoking Believed The Cause

GRESHAM, OR – A woman died late Friday morning in an apartment fire in Gresham. It happened around 11:30.

Firefighters from Gresham responded to the building by the intersection of Southeast Stark Street and 194th Avenue.

They were assisted by personnel from Portland Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters found a woman in the apartment. She was unconscious. Despite their best efforts to save her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials believe that the fire had been smoking-related.

The woman's name has not been released.
