Gun Threat At Sam Barlow High School A Hoax, Police Say

The sheriff's office placed the school on lockdown just before 11 a.m. The lockdown was lifted around 1 p.m. after no threat was found.

GRESHAM, OR — Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies on Thursday put Sam Barlow High School on lockdown after a 911 caller reported a student with a gun. The lockdown was first announced via emails to students' parents, then on the Gresham-Barlow School District Facebook page shortly before 11:30 a.m. Police were called around 11 a.m.

During a search of the campus, deputies found the person accused in a classroom and immediately detained and interviewed them (neither the school district nor sheriff's office have identified whether the student was male or female).

Upon further investigation, deputies determined the 911 call was a hoax. The lockdown was lifted just before 1 p.m.
