Mt. Hood Meadows Lift Stuck, 150 Skiers And Boarders Evacuated
Skiers and snowboarders at Mt. Hood Meadows had to be evacuated from a ski left after it got stuck because of power problems.

MT. HOOD, OR – With winter, comes winter storms, and while that can bring good news to those heading to Mt. Hood to enjoy the fresh snow, it can also have its drawbacks.
That's what happened Wednesday morning when power problems led to a chair lift getting stuck and snowboarders and skiers having to be evacuated.
It happened on the Blue lift at Meadows.

The storm – which brought 10 inches of fresh powder to the resort – was affecting power and workers switched to the lift's auxiliary power. That was not enough to power the lift, which already had passengers, however.

After workers tried unsuccessfully to use deicer, they started using harnesses and rope to lower 150 passengers safely to the ground.
It took about 2.5 hours to get everyone to safety. There were no reports of injuries.
The Easy Rider and Buttercup lifts are still operating.
