Mt. Hood Missing Hiker: National Guard Helicopter Joins Search

David Yaghmourian hasn't been seen since Monday when he stopped to rest along the Timberline Trail.

MT. HOOD, OR – The National Guard is joining the search for a missing hiker on Mt. Hood . They are lending a helicopter to the efforts to find 30-year-old David Yaghmourian from Phoenix, AZ.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says that Yaghmourian was last seen on Monday.

The companion told deputies that Yaghmourian chose to rest by the junction of the trail and the Pacific Coast Trail while he returned to Timberline Lodge.

When Yaghmourian did not return the friend called for help.

On Wednesday, the National Guard helicopter will fly over the route that Yaghmourian is believed to have taken in the hope of finding him. Yaghmourian's friend told authorities that he was dressed for the cold and had a tent with him.

Yaghmourian is described as:

  • 30 years old
  • Black hair, brown eyes
  • 5'10" tall, 150 lbs.
  • Last seen wearing a tan baseball cap, black Columbia jacket and tan pants, with a large black backpack with red trim and what appeared to be a yellow towel on top.
