Sidewalk Improvements Coming To Troutdale This Month

Residents and commuters through downtown Troutdale should expect traffic disruptions for the next three weeks while crews improve sidewalks.

TROUTDALE, OR — Commuters who regularly use the East Historic Columbia River Highway through downtown Troutdale should expect traffic disruptions along several blocks through about the third week in June, Multnomah County transportation officials announced Tuesday.

Construction crews will begin sidewalk improvements to the downtown corridor this week by installing pedestrian "bulb outs" and ramp improvements.

The improvements will be added to several crosswalks, making it easier and safer to cross the highway while downtown. The improvements at Dora Street and Harlow Avenue, specifically, will fall in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act, official said.

Expect the following traffic impacts between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday:

  • Intermittent single-lane closures on the Historic Highway, Dora Street, or Harlow Avenue during construction crew work hours;
  • No on-street parking near crosswalks being improved during construction crew work hours; and
  • Temporary pedestrian detours around sidewalk ramps being upgraded.

County officials said flaggers will be in place within the work zone during construction times, noting that non detours or complete road closures should be necessary.
