Mother Nature.

It's too early to start tossing around weather puns and cliches like snowmageddon and snowpocalypse. It's certainly way too early to put the skis on top of the car and start driving to Timberline. At the same time, for the first time this season, there is visible snowing at Timberline Lodge.

A worker there Friday morning told Patch that while there has been snow on Mt. Hood – it is, after all, an 11,250-foot high mountain – this is the first for the lodge this year.

"There's no accumulation but it's nice," she said.

Forecasters from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center say that this will more than likely be an El Nino winter, meaning warmer temperatures – and possibly less snow.

So, if you like the snow, enjoy the flakes every chance that you get.
