Wildfire Season: Fire That Burned 100 Acres West of Burns is Contained

Officials say better measurement doubles size of fire.

A wildfire that ignited Monday afternoon burned approximately 100 acres about five miles west of The Dalles before being contained., officials said Tuesday afternoon.

Originally estimated to be 45 acres in size, the fire was remapped.

After looking at the new information, officials determined it had burned about 100 acres not the previous thought 45.

The fire - named the Chenoweth Fire - has been burning since about 5:20 Monday afternoon on state-owned lands.

Firefighters will continue to strengthen the trails creating a containment buffer. The fire is contained. Fire crews will work on hot spots the rest of the day.
