LAKE OSWEGO - Lake Oswego has local venues ranging from Irish themed haunts to brewery's that have a banging house band to a great local music store with affordable instrument rental options.

• Maher's Pub is a great spot to see some local live music. The tunes are folky and the environment is family friendly. They keep their calendar booked solid with local artists. Each Wednesday, Maher's pub hosts an open mic night at 7 p.m. which is a great way for new musicians to test their skills.

• Oliver's has plenty of different artists who come through their doors. Classic rock is their specialty, with a lineup consisting of local artists. It's open daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. They're a self-proclaimed 'un-pretentious neighborhood joint' so this is a great place for a group of friends to go on a weekend night.

• Lake Music Center is the local music spot where you can get your guitar repaired and find a great steal on an old or new guitar. Whether you're young or young at heart, the Lake Music Center is a great place to rent your first instrument as you learn to play.
