ICYMI: Annual Giant Pumpkin Regatta Coming To Tualatin Oct. 21
Celebrating the regatta's 14th year, city officials plan to run several regatta-themed events concurrently, including a 5k fundraiser run.

TUALATIN, OR — Grab an oar and your weirdest outfit, the 14th Annual West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta is coming to the Lake of Tualatin Commons in October — but events leading up to the much-anticipated annual float begin next week.
The rain or shine regatta is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at 8325 S.W. Nyberg St. in Tualatin. Pumpkin boats, pumpkin golf, and pumpkin bowling are just a few of the pumpkin-centric activities that will be on-hand, along with pie eating and kids' costume contests, clown shows, and appearances by Smokey and Rojo the Llama Boys. The family-friendly event is free, and has reportedly become one of the most anticipated fall events in the Northwest.
Preceding the regatta, the city is set to begin a Regatta Medallion scavenger hunt which it will manage through its city website and Pumpkin Regatta Facebook beginning Sept. 21.

On the day of the regatta, two other events will be held concurrently.

The Tualatin Chamber of Commerce will host the 5k Regatta Run at 9 a.m. Oct. 21, while the 18th Annual Terminator Weigh-Off and New Seasons Giant Tomato Weigh-Off will be hosted by the Pacific Giant Vegetable Growers.
The 5k Regatta Run was created as a scholarship fundraiser in honor of fallen U.S. soldier Matthew Lembke, who was killed during his third tour in Afghanistan. Runners interested in the event can register at www.regattarun.com.
